GSPB-Visayas opens office in Tacloban

Bringing public service closer to the People has been the core advocacy and mission of Gabay Sa Pag-unlad ng Bayan (GSPB), a non-government organization formed prior to the 2016 national election, is known as a staunch supporter of the development agenda of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

Nowadays, GSPB continues with its noble and patriotic mission to strengthen the public service by advocating for enhanced effective delivery of basic services for the greater benefit of people across the archipelago.

Earlier today (September 28, 2019), an official launching of the organization's Visayas Office was conducted thru its Visayas Secretariat spearheaded by Ms Yvonie M. Lozano. Together with some invited guests from both the public and private sector, the formal launch took place at Highway 301, Tigawon 2, Calanipawan, this City.

Mr. Richard Necesario, GSPB National President, and Senator Lawrence "Bong" Go, one of the founding pillars of GSPB were reportedly invited to grace the event. However, due to some prior commitments, both were not able to make it. Instead, they just sent representatives to convey their messages of support and appreciation to the GSPB-Visayas for being an instrument of sustained alliances and consolidator/implementers of initiatives among regional coordinators in the entire Visayas Region.

Asst. Reg'l Director Elvira C.Torres of DA-RFO 8 , on instruction from DA-8 Chief Milo delos Reyes stood in as representative of Undersecretary Ariel Cayanan who was to give an inspirational message during the event.

In her talk, Dir.Torres reassured the audience who were mostly Brgy. Officials and local residents of Brgy. Calanipawan , that DA is open and willing to help by delivering its programs and services to those that needed them the most.

"We will closely coordinate with your organization and provide the necessary assistance based on your identified needs," ARD Torres explains.

The highlight of today's activity include: the ribbon- cutting ceremony that signals the formal opening of GSPB Office; the giving away of some goodies composed mainly of rice, and a considerable number of basketball which was handed over by no less than the fast-rising actor Mr. Martin Escudero, who is part of the supporting cast of "Ang Probinsyano" and also a grandson of the late former DA Secretary Salvador Escudero III.

The organizers of the momentous event thru Ms Lozano profusely extended their gratitude and appreciation to the DA for sharing time and the assurances of support of the planned programs and projects of GSPB. Ms Lozano likewise promised to act as "bridge" between the DA and the would-be beneficiaries of agriculture-based programs.  (FRANCISCO C. ROSAROSO, RAFIS Chief)
