The Bolusao Fisherfolks Multipurpose Association (BFMPA) harvested a total of 612 kilos of bangus on December 23, 2019. This is doubled from the 330 kilos in their previous harvest which took place last September 11, 2019.

“This abundance is an advance Christmas gift to our families. We are overwhelmed with the number of harvest that we have. This means more income and more blessings to share to our neighbors,” Efren Minguel, BFMPA President expressed.

As early as 6:00 AM, the members of the association gathered together. They helped hand in hand in pulling the net.

“It is a good timing to harvest. We can use the money that we will earn for our Noche Buena. We will also equally share those that will not be sold to all members so we can serve them on Christmas Eve,” Artemio Regahal, BFMPA member said.

Aside from their personal plans, the group will use their income to buy more fish nets which they can lend to other fishermen for a fee. Money earned could serve as additional income that will increase the fund of their association.

Peddlers and walk-in buyers also came during the harvest. They waited for their turn to buy since the group prioritized prior orders from public markets in nearby towns.

BFMPA continues to take care of their fish sanctuary 24/7. They plan to buy new fingerlings on February 2020 so they can harvest them in May 2020, in time for their barangay fiesta.  (JENNINA JUNE LEIRA L. BROSAS, Information Writer, PRDP RPCO 8, FRANCISCO C. ROSAROSO, InfoACE Unit Head)
