Despite the inclement weather, the DA-RFO 8 did not waver in holding three major events on January 20, 2020.

First activity was the orientation-dialogue on the "New Thinking" for Agriculture of Sec. William D. Dar for the enhancement of DA program implementation. It is here where the Overall Regional Agriculture Situationer was presented by PMED Chief, Engr. Jecela Demegillo, followed by the Ways Forward or 2020 Priority Directions for the various DA banner programs and special projects by FOD Chief, Dr. Andrew Rodolfo Orais.

Another big event lined up, was the official sendoff ceremony for outgoing Regional Executive Director (RED) Milo delos Reyes and a warm welcome for Incoming RED Angel C. Enriquez. RED Delos Reyes was recalled back to Region 4-A, his mother unit, and barring any changes, he is now being eyed to be the National Focal for the 4th Paradigm Shift which is the Consolidation of Small and Medium-sized farms.

On the other hand, RED Enriquez, a true-bloodied Cebuana was formerly the Regional Director of DA-RFO 7 and later transferred to the Bureau of Soils and Water Management as Bureau Director. Prior to her reassignment here in Region 8, She also assumed as Finance Director at DA Central Office.

Both REDs were one in saying that "understandably as REDs they are used to come and go". That no matter how good one performed in his/her assignment when it's time to go one can't do otherwise as there's no such thing as permanent in this world. "We just have to embrace change," the two DA official honorees somehow expressed same sentiments.

Lastly, the 3rd and final activity for the day was the DA 8 Management Committee Meeting presided, for the first time, by RED Enriquez, the newly installed regional director of DA-Region 8. The ManCom Meeting went on until 6:30PM due to various concerns or matters treated by RED Enriquez and her new team.

The main agenda of the aforecited ManCom Meeting included the following: Secretary Dar's Directions relative to his New Thinking for Agriculture; pertinent matters discussed in the recent Jan. 16 to 17 Operations Management Meeting, and Review of DA-RFO 8's Organizational Structure. Other relevant matters tackled were the status of Job Orders for February and onwards; request of service vehicles for APCOs, and reporting format or templates for the Fall Army Worm (FAW) infestation as well as the African Swine Fever (ASF).  (FRANCISCO C.
