"Let's double our work": Sec. Dar tells field frontliners

The DA Secretary William D. Dar urged his fieldmen in the regions to double their work as he announced that he has requested for a P32 billion supplemental fund to fasttrack the implementation of the Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat Kontra sa COVID-19 or ALPAS COVID-19.

He made this directive to all Regional Executive Directors who joined him in the 4-hour videoconference held earlier this afternoon from 1:00 to 5:00pm.

The DA Chief disclosed that the requested supplemental budget is over and above the department’s funding for existing programs.

Accordingly, this is consistent with the mandate of the DA "to ensure a food-secure Philippines," much more in time of the health emergency period.

In the midst of gruesome news of increasing number of fatalities due to Covid-19 transmission, and the hovering issue on food scarcity, Sec. Dar, said he is still optimistic that with the help of all DA frontliners, "we can make things happen and feed every Filipino" during the entire duration of ECQ.

He expressed confidence that once the stimulus programs are rolled out, the country could win this epic battle against Covid-19.  (FRANCISCO C. ROSAROSO, Chief, RAFIS)
