In her message, Director Enriquez emphasized the theme “Leave no one behind” by citing the important role of women, not only in the homes and looking after the well-being of their families, but more so, in their contributions to food production, as partners of men in ensuring food security in their own homes, communities, in the country and throughout the whole world.

Likewise, she jived both the celebration of World Food Day celebration every October16 and International Rural Women’s Day every October 15, as a way to encourage rural women and the equal opportunities to develop herself fully not only as a wife, mother, but more so as an important part of the farming community.

The DA RFO 08 paid tribute to the region’s rural women today through a day-long forum, highlighted by an Opening Program, various food processing demo and Kadiwa retail selling of fresh agri products from various groups and individual rural women entrepreneurs and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
