BAFS issue Participatory Organic Certificate (POC) anew in EV

To start the new year, the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) recently issued the Participatory Organic Certificate (POC) of the five Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) core members of Catubig Organic Farmers Association (COFA). These members include Ms. Elnora M. Balanlay, Mr. William P. Angeles, Mr. David P. Turbanada, Mr. Dennis P. Mercado, and Mr. Juanito O. Acopiado.Through the support of Catubig Mayor, Hon. Solomon G. Vicencio, the staff under the Municipal Agriculture Office headed by Ms. Anita E. Estudillo, were able to assist and support these farmers during the entire certification process.
Few weeks from now, the group will commence meetings in preparation for the office and witness audits by the BAFS, which are necessary for the group to become an accredited organic certifying body.
Currently, the region has 15 certified organic farmers under the PGS and they were all certified in 2022.
