The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office 8 (DA-RFO 8), together with the members of the Regional Technical Working Group of the Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Systems (PAFES) met on February 10, 2023 for a coordination meeting.

 

Held at the 4-H Learning Hub, Palo, Leyte, the meeting was presided over by Dr. Andrew Rodolfo T. Orais, Field Operations Chief/ PAFES Focal Person, which highlighted the accomplishments of the program in CY 2022, as well as the targets and plans for this year.

 

It was noted that most provinces in the region still need to undertake the establishment of their respective Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (PAFEC), the finalization of its Comprehensive Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Plan (CPAFEP), and co-financing arrangements.

 

RTD Larry U. Sultan presented the guidelines on the implementation of the Farm and Fisheries Clustering and Consolidation (F2C2) which will soon to be streamlined with PAFES.

 

Dir. Hazel Grace T. Taganas of ATI-RTC 8 announced that for this year, the provinces shall receive financial support worth around P1 million for the implementation of extension support activities in line with their CPAFEP.

 

Said meeting was attended by banner program coordinators, agricultural program coordinating officers (APCOs) and attached agencies, namely, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA). ###
