DA to conduct forum for upland rice, native chicken investors

The Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 8 (DA- RFO 8) is going to conduct an Agribusiness Investment and Marketing Forum on the Production and Marketing of Upland Rice and Native Chicken on September 19- 20, 2013 in Ormoc City.

According to Ms Elvira L. Hipe, technical staff of the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), the target audience for the said conference are some identified investors who are willing to venture into upland rice and native chicken farming. Forty to fifty investors from Ormoc City are expected to participate including the staff from the City Agriculture Office. 

Ms Hipe also shared that native chicken and upland rice post a high demand in the market nowadays. With this, DA is trying to maximize the production of these products especially in Ormoc since it is one of the prospective areas for the production of the said commodities.

The forthcoming activity aims to encourage farmers to venture into upland rice and native chicken production. Also, it intends to increase farmers’ awareness and update them of the advanced production technology.
