RIARC-Abuyog has the largest area among fruitcrop stations (145.35 ha.), and also the highest producer of jackfruit, a banner commodity considered as a “sunrise” industry in Region 8. The station maintains the bulk production of quality scions of EVIARC Sweet jackfruit variety that are also cultivated in RIARC-San Jorge and Main RIARC Babatngon.
To solve the perennial problem on the lack of fruitcrop planting materials in the region, the DA through RIARC-Abuyog has established the Foundation Scion Grove in the different government-owned establishments, such as the Provincial Technical Institutes (PTIAs), Provincial Research and Extension Centers, and the Offices of Provincial Agriculture throughout the region to maintain the genetic purity, as sources of planting materials for scion groves or plant propagules.
