The identification of adaptable rice varieties for different ecosystems in Region 8 is a continuing activity of RIARC-San Jorge. It also conducts adaptability trials on sorghum and OPV on corn. This DA-RFU 8 station initiated the purification and selection of upland rice, such as aromatic Kalinayan rice which has been sustainably grown in Samar province.
